This section has made me reflect on the roles of a teacher and how that impacts learning for students. A good teacher is not only a subject expert but also a motivator, has the patience to encourage students, has the ability to control the classroom environment, and provide lessons that match the relevant learner's ability and age group. It is also important for a TEFL teacher to be aware of the cultural norms of the country that he/she will be teaching in. It would hinder learning for students if they are made to behave in ways that they find culturally inappropriate. The teacher has to be sensitive to the group that he/she is in-charge of. It is important for TEFL teachers to provide engaging methods of teaching to encourage student's interest in learning.
