This unit covered modals, passive/active voice, and phrasal verbs. Modals are used before other verbs to add meaning to the main verbs. For example, "I can play 3 different sports." Furthermore, modal verbs can be used to express many different ideas. Passive and active voices are the voices used in the English language. Active voice focuses on the agent/doer, and the passive voice focuses on the subject. An active example is, "My girlfriend cooked dinner last night." A passive voice would look like the following, "Dinner was cooked last night by my girlfriend." You are literally just flipping the sentences around to change the focus. This unit also focuses on phrasal verbs which can be confusing, but I will take the unit's recommendation of teaching these as vocabulary terms. Phrasal verbs are explained as multi-word verbs, because they consist of a verb partnered with one or two particles.
