This section broke down the four present tense forms. The present simple, using the base form of the verb, is used to describe facts, habits, things that are always constant, and in recounting present stories. The present continuous is used for ongoing activities at the time of speaking, when the adverb always is used to indicate high frequency, and to describe a changing situation. The present perfect is used to link the present and past, for example, when an action happened in the past but is still true now or when a past action has present results. This tense is also used to explain events that occurred in the past but without a clear time of completion. Finally, the present perfect continuous always links the present to the past but emphasizes the action. It's used to show how long an activity went on that will likely be continuing into the present or describe an activity that recently ended but that has a present consequence.
