The most important takeaway for me in these two videos is how important it is to be flexible. In the second lesson, the teacher was able to work with how much the students knew and adjust his explanations accordingly. In the first lesson, all he did was keep repeating the words expecting the students to understand eventually without offering examples or explanations. This made the students confused and less willing to participate. Even in the engage stage, the teacher was much more flexible in the second lesson, allowing answers that don't make sense and even coming back to them later so that the students both feel less intimidated to participate and also understand their errors. All in all, the teacher in the second lesson was more engaged, and even if there were moments that were a bit unclear, the students were more willing to try because it appeared as though the teacher was trying hard too.
