In this unit, we learned about the various purposes and methods used in the Engage, Study, and Activate stages (the preferred methodology for classroom teaching). Each class should begin with an Engage stage, where the goal is to have as much student vocalization in English as possible and to get them excited for the lesson of the day. No corrections should be made but rather noted to go over in the Study phase. In the Study phase the goal is interaction with the new language concept and understanding it. The teacher can use things like word searches, gap fills, or other activities to let the students learn the material just studied. In the Activate stage, this is where students put their existing language knowledge and the concepts they just learned to use through activities like role-playing, surveys, debates, and story building.
