This unit explores many different aspects of classroom management. Topics covered include classroom arrangement, establishing rapport with your students and how to use your voice effectively, as well as classroom discipline.
I learned many ways the teacher can use their eyes, voice and simple gestures to improve the teaching process, as well as the effect different ways of organizing the student group and classroom layout can affect the overall success of the lesson.
Common layouts include orderly rows, circles and horseshoes, and separate tables. The position of the teacher during various activities and layouts was also described and recommendations were given.
Also covered are other issues such as board writing skills and how to convey instructions effectively. Common reasons for disciplinary problems in the classroom were also examined, and useful strategies to prevent problem behavior were suggested.
