It is very useful to know the different external examinations available for students to take. By understand which external exams the students want to take gives a good indication of what their goal is for learning English, and it helps in a teacher's lesson planning and focus. I believe external studies of these exams are necessary as a teacher to properly prepare students.
I think it would be useful to give an example of how a group activity can be used as a formal test.
