In this unit I learned about common challenges that TEFL teachers face in their teaching. First of all, every teacher will be faced with meeting a number of new classes for the first time. Therefore the first class with each new group should be structured differently that ensuing lessons, and should focus on creating rapport and assessing students' level of English. Warmer exercises are helpful with classes so as to not jump into study activities right away. We also learned about the unique challenges that come with encountering different levels within a class, large class sizes, use of native language in classes, reluctant students, and difficulties with listening texts.
