The purpose of this unit was to introduce the distinction between created materials, authentic materials, and course books when creating a lesson plan. All 3 of these have their uses and a good teacher will be adaptive in the usage of them. The different kinds of course materials are important to understand and it is not a good idea to rely on any one of them too much. What I will take away from this lesson is that it is important to supplement the lessons given in textbooks with material outside of the textbook on the same topic, because this is a more engaging presentation for the students than merely sticking with the textbook.
