The productive skills are speaking and writing, because learners doing these need to produce language. In contrast, receptive skills which are listening and reading are used when learners are perceiving and comprehending the language. While conducting the communicative activity, teachers have to ensure that it awakes interest and desire to speak and listen. There are controlled (accuracy based), creative (fluency based) and guided (the mixture of both) speaking activities.
