Unit 8 covers the last of the tense system with the seven future tenses including: future simple, future continuous, future perfect, future perfect continuous, be going + infinitive, present simple, and present continuous. Future simple is used to give future facts and certainties, promises, predictions based on no evidence, assumptions, spontaneous decisions, and to give threats. A fun teaching idea would be to give a class activity of fortune telling with other peers so they can practice this tense. Future continuous is used when saying something will be in progress, to predict the present, for inquiries of people’s plans, and to refer to future events. I could have the students try to get out of a date and come up with responses to dodge an event. Future perfect only works when something will have been done or completed by a certain time in the future. A teaching idea with this tense could be to tell the peer next to them what the will have done by a certain age. Future perfect continuous can be used to say how long something will have continued by a certain time.
