This unit talks about the different present tenses forms which are: present simple, present continuous, present perfect and perfect continuous. This is something that can be confusing to understand and to teach.It is a lesson that has to be read on various occasions to fully understand it and to feel confident when talking about it. Basically the present simple forms establishes what is happening at the moment, directions what someone is doing or states a historical sequence. The present continuous talks about actions that are in progress or are frequent like say, that someones bites her nails. In the perfect present the past is related in the present. For example, it has rained a lot today. You can talk about something that started in the past it may still be going or you don't know when it's going to finish. Last, we have the present perfect continuous that can be used to communicate an incomplete on going activity like "I've been writing for the last two hours".
