This unit is really important because sometimes the teacher feels obligated to use the course book designated for the class and sticks with it, or in some cases, doesn't know what to do because the course doesn't offer a course book. It's important to understand what from the course book is relevant to the course and can help the students and use it. What you think that will not help the students the replace it with something else and always try to supplement the course book with different materials, be authentic or created. Even if you don't have a course book, a teacher can utilize something else that he or she thinks would benefit the students the most.
