This unit summarises the importance of a good choice of materials and course books in our class. It deals with three types of materials we may use with our students: authentic materials, created materials and course books. In my opinion, an effective and interesting class can be given with the help of all three. We, as teachers, should adapt our class to the needs of our students. It would be a boring class if we focused only on a book. We should spur our students' interest with some real-life materials, such as radio interviews, videos or newspaper articles. Students will feel more confident and we will be able to direct students' attention to what is being learnt. I also appreciate the examples of created materials, as those can greatly supplement a course book.
