When teaching English as a foreign language, the most obvious and most frequently attended to aspect is that of speaking. Teachers and students alike often practice fluency and accuracy of spoke English because corrections can be made in the moment where with writing, spelling and punctuation come into play and make the matter more complicated. Often times the native language may not be written from left to right and words may not even have spaces between them in sentence structures. This needs to be kept in mind when introducing writing concepts to students.
