Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

The unit discusses the correlation of the teacher and the learner. To be a good teacher, you must be able to form a strong relationship with your students and show that you care about them. Aside from being very knowledgeable to the subject you’re teaching, you must be warm, engaging, motivating, patient, kind, have good rapport, flexible and dedicated. But of course, dedication alone doesn’t make you a good teacher. To be an effective teacher, you must also understand your roles and what are expected of you. You must know the ins and outs of classroom resources, be able to control, organize and facilitate lessons and activities that can help students reach their full potential as well as be able to assess every students’ progress. Any good teacher also makes it a point to let their students explore and think outside the box on their own without being completely withdrawn. They are always available to assist, support and encourage. These are all very vital but I think what I need to hone more is my flexibility. Everything doesn’t always go according to ‘plan’; unpredictable things happen so being able to adapt and be ready for a change is a major skill to possess. Different learners have different needs. Young learners can be both easy and hard to teach. Hard because kids have short attention span; teens are mostly self-conscious and unmotivated, unpredictable behaviors also come into the picture so you should be able to come up with fun, interesting activites to keep them focused and motivated. Easy because they pick up language naturally and unconsciously. Teaching adults (especially the advanced ones) is more challenging in my opinion because there are a lot of things to consider. Their age, their learning history, etc. I feel more pressured because expectations are much higher compared to the young learners. Beginners have zero knowledge of the English language. Elementary students understands basic phrases, can communicate in a simple way without grammatical content. Pre-Intermediate students gets the general idea but has difficulty in some contexts. They can usually answer questions or make conversations about familiar topics. Intermediate can most likely interact about complex topics but has trouble with vocabulary and grammar. Upper Intermediate can understand everyday language and their English knowledge is sufficient enough but still make some grammar and spelling mistakes. Advanced can pretty much understand almost everything and just study subtle parts of speech. Good teachers make good learners. Good learners are eager to listen and learn, always curious, never run of questions, stays motivated, likes to experiment, talk with others, read/study more and are never scared to make mistakes and receive corrections. Learners have different reasons for studying English. It may be for travel or work purposes, for improving grades or passing exams or for communicating with friends/acquaintances or merely as a hobby or interest. Whatever their purposes may be, teachers have a big role in making their students’ dreams come true.
