The biggest takeaway that I got from this unit is how important it is to deviate away from the course book. The course books are an excellent guide and blueprint to the flow and organization of the class, but the course books should not, by any means, be the only text that students follow. It is important to supplement the course book with other materials, such as newspaper clippings, pictures, videos, and other material that could be more beneficial to show the class. Outside source materials have a way of breaking up the monotony of reading from the same book for the duration of the course and it also adds some excitement and unpredictability to the course.
