By being a native English speaker, I often take the process of learning pronunciation naturally as a child for granted, but this unit has opened my eyes on the importance of including pronunciation material in a lesson plan, even for older students. First, before officially teaching, I will review and become very familiar with the phonemic symbols in order to understand the learning process of my students in addition to having the ability of teaching more efficiently. In this unit, we also learned the importance of volume and pitch within a sentence through intonation, as well as the significance of stress on individual words and syllables. As for intonation, the most common patterns are the rise/fall for statements and the fall/rise when an individual is looking for confirmation or indicating disagreement. Additionally, the art of articulation comes from the anatomy of the head and throat which includes the tongue, lips, teeth, palate, larynx, vocal cords and more.
