It was a struggle to get my head around the names of these tenses as some descriptions have changed since I was at school learning grammar but I digested and then re-digested the material until all I could see in my head was tense this and tense that. I think the best thing to do is make a chart like I used to have as a child and put them on the inside of the toilet door. I also remember a "Stepping Stones" game we used to play and we were given sentences and we had to step on the correct tense of the word for that sentence. I think this would be a great teaching tool for younger learners.
