It was very interesting to see two different videos about two similar lessons with two different attitudes from the teacher. In he first lesson you don't see an organization, a lesson plan, is more like just random teaching with no real engage phase. The students seem confused and uninterested because the teacher never got to their attention and didn't explain well what was needed to do. He was disorganized and correcting them immediately. Even at the end, when he divides the group in two, he calls one of the groups losers. However, in the second lesson, the teacher does knows how to engage his students. He showed them pictures, ask for their names, bonds well with them and explains with clarity the lesson, what is needed to do and corrects them in a subtle way. In this lesson the students are more interested and engaged. What I learned is that the right attitude with an organized lesson plan with flexibility and good rapport with the students will often result in a good lesson and great student participation.
