In this unit, the main goal is to have the students listen and understand the vocabulary. There is a difference on how people listen to or read words. There can be a purpose to listening and reading, or it could be just for entertainment. When some one is listening to their favorite song on the radio, they would be more interested than if they were to listen to something boring like the commercials on the radio. This is why the teacher needs to get to know the students better to find out what they would be interested in learning about. This would help the students retain the information longer than if they were not very interested in the subject.
