The use of tenses is a very complicated topic even for those of us who speak language. I believe that is because we are used to hearing the language and the use of tenses becomes more natural. However, this is obviously an area that will require a lot of practice in order to properly relay to to someone of another language how and why these tenses make sense. Having said that, i do feel that the application of this information was a bit more difficult simply because of how it was conveyed in this text.
