Unit 1 was a basic introduction and instruction manual of how a teacher is expected to behave, as well as the possible behaviors that should be expected from students. Additionally, this unit introduced new educators to TEFL 101 basic terminology in regards to advancement levels and content expected at each of these levels. Personally, being introduced to the many different levels of advancement was an eye opener for me. It was a wake up call to the amount of patience, knowledge and understanding that is needed to be an effective educator. It was also a stark reminder of the need to be flexible, because as with each level, each learner is different and often requires a different characteristic from you the educator, to ensure their success.
