Lesson plans that are strict are not advised since they usually create a more teacher center environment; however, for new teacher, it will be very difficult to proceed with no plan. When developing a plan, it should be made flexible, and not scripted. It should be used more of a preparation list, and a guideline to run through. There should be an estimation of how long each part will take, but create optional parts of the lesson that are executed depend on how fast the pace of the class is, but without omitting any important content. During the lesson, a teacher can jot down notes to keep track of what the students are struggling with, as well as what parts of the lesson the teacher could have done a better job with. A teacher can prepare their lesson plan by writing down the goal for the students, a goal for the teacher to improve in teaching, and the means to how the students' goal will be achieved. A flexible ESA structure can be made in the preparation phase. It is good to keep record of what the students have already done, since you may very well be working with students for 6-10 months, and if the teacher is ill and requests for a substitute teacher, it is a good reference for the sub to know where the students are.
