There are four basic skills in any language; receptive skills-reading and listening and also productive skills which are speaking and writing. I have also learnt that as a teacher you are supposed to have a balanced approach, you should try by all means to make use of all the receptive skills. This unit has also helped me in understanding what are the reasons for reading and listening; namely listening for a purpose and the other is in order to achieve something.
