The unit 5 have taught me about case studies, frameworking,"problem based methodology", different games used in the classroom, Computer Aided Language Learning and Speech Act Theory. After choosing the case study we should think about how to use it in the classroom. There are few techniques that would apply to any communicative activities, such as: introduce and give background to the topic, pre-teach the language of the activity, set-up the mechanics of the activity, demonstrate the process of the activity, give students a framework to use, let them do it, feedback, debrief and correction. Frameworking is used to visualize what is happening during many processes in theoretical physics and economics. To explain concepts, many physics and economist use a model: input (starting process) process (immediate 'step') output(results). Problem-based learning is a teaching methodology which places teachers the "facilitator". Problem-based learning allows students to identify what they feel are the problems to be addressed. There are some games which can be used during learning process, such as: Battleships, Monopoly, Pictionary, Hangman, etc. Computer-Aided Language learning allows business clients to find examples of business letters, faxes and e-mails, find company records, read biographies of famous businessmen, etc. Language acquisition theory is called as "Speech Act Theory" which has four level: utterance, propositional utterances, illocutionary utterances, perlocutionary utterances. The most appropriate settings for this theory in the teaching of Business English would be in areas of: making offers and requests, negotiating, questioning.
