Unit twenty brings a close to all of the units in this TEFL course. It includes information on common problem situations such as first lessons, warmers and large classes just to mention a few. I learnt that in the first lesson, the teacher should find out about the students and build rapport between the students as well as between the teachers. Good warmers can include hangman as well as memory games. The use of worksheets and pair work is helpful in controlling large classes. This involves all the students and there is less chance of boredom and lack of interests. Many suggestions are provided on dealing with reluctant students and use of their native language. This will prove to be very useful in the classroom. I can’t believe this is the last unit. It has been quite a journey. I have learnt a lot and had my memory refreshed from my school days which is great. This TEFL course is a very solid, straight forward and interesting course. I feel ready and excited to pursue a career in TEFL. Thank you!
