I learnt that it is important to use both authentic and created materials to create interest among students and ensure that lessons are less predictable. There should also be a lot of consideration before choosing the materials for the lesson. The materials should be catered to the students' abilities and interest. It is also important to remember that it is not necessary to use all the lessons in a course book as some may not be suitable. There may be times when it is better to omit or replace them with something else that is more interesting or is able to reinforce a language point.
