This lesson was about planning lessons for your classroom. A topic that teachers would debate whether too much planning is good or if having just a guideline for a lesson is better. The writing of a lesson has a few important functions which are being an aid to planning, having a working document during the lesson and it keeps record of what your class went over. There isn't just one way of writing a lesson but it is important to keep things simple and have a smooth flow. It is also important to be organized by having a plan, making sure equipment works and being available for students to chat. Lastly, you should have a clear guide of what you want to have in a lesson plan. You don't have to follow an exact structure but it's a good idea to have a plan. A few things that the lesson suggested that I thought were good is having learning objectives, personal achievements, teaching aids, activities, phase (ESA), timing, interaction and keeping historical record of what you have done in the class. The second part of the lesson went over a number of examples of how you should format a lesson plan and also monitor your classroom. The lesson plan example was animal vocabulary and it gave a indication of how a straight arrow ESA lesson should look like. Also it brought of the fact that a teacher should be very attentive in the classroom so that you are continually striving to improve your classes skills and making it enjoyable. The last part of the lesson went over planning a sequence of lessons. The factors that you want to consider are flexibility, goals, revision and variety & balance. You want to have flexibility to be adaptable during a lesson. Having goals as a teacher is important so that there is something you are aiming to achieve. Revision is necessary so that you can ensure students are retaining what is taught. Variety and Balance is extremely important as well so that there is equal treatment in making sure all skills are included in a lesson. It's also significant to incorporate a mixture of activities so the class doesn't get bored.
