The main focus of this unit was on Theories ,methods and techniques of teaching.n this chapter various method of teaching where covered,this includes;
-Grammar-Translation which puts more emphasis on the student learning about the language rather than actaully learning and absorbing the language.
-Audio-lingualisim which focuses on habit formation through condition and repetetive drills.
-Presentation,Practice and Production which is suitable for lower level students and one of its cons is that it lacks flexibility.
-Suggestopedia focuses on the need of the student to be comfortable,confident and relaxed.It encourages a parent children relationship between the teacher and the students.
These are some of the methods that were highlighted in this chapter.
An effective teaching method called the ESA was also discussed in this chapter ,this is one of the greatest and most effective methods as it tries include all the necessary factors needed for English learning such as motivation,confidence,exposure to the language etc.There are different types this includes the straight arrow ESA lesson,Patchwork and boomerang.
