Since inevitably most english teachers will deal with a variety of different sorts of students over the years, learning to deal with differences is important. This unit outlines helpuf tools to use when you have discrepencies in student abilities and attitudes. For example, pair work is great teaming up a weaker student with a stronger student so they can assist each other, this helps the weaker student being assisted by the stronger student, it also aids the stronger student because I strongly believe that helping to teach or assist others with learning concepts helps to further concrete the concepts in your own mind.
Learning how to match up differences and strenghs/weaknesses will be a very important skill to have, especially when dealing with large groups. A good teacher should know how to utilize a variety of different methods to be effective in different class environments.
