Unit 1 deals with both teachers and learners and gives a broad overview of their characteristics. We learned what makes up a good teacher and what different roles he might take in class. Moreover, different types of learners were discussed, alongside with the challenges they might face, depending on their age, level of language proficiency or even cultural background. The content of this unit helped me to realize, what to pay attention to when it comes to my role as a teacher as well as what to look out for in students, so that the way I teach will be adequate. What especially stood out for me is how important it is for a teacher to be able to motivate and involve all the students in class and to be sensitive to their different needs, addressing them in an appropriate manner.
