This unit had some great ideas for games which could be used in the classroom to get students talking. Games are so important because students of all ages and levels can have fun whilst thinking, communicating and "playing" in english. They can be used to break the ice, and practice new language. I learnt that writing skills are often neglected because it is considered "quiet time", where students are not talking, and also it's mostly a solitary activity. Showing students a wide variety of written materials will give them an understanding about the different types of writing - for example letters, poetry, stories, newspapers. Some languages have different alphabets, direction of writing, or lack spaces between the words (this is one I encountered whilst learning to read Thai). Potential difficulties should be anticipated and pre taught by the teacher.
