Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

In this last unit we have learnt how to deal with certain situations we might encounter in the classroom. When it comes to the first lessons, it is important to use activities to establish rapport between students, find out about student’s level of English and their needs and aspiration with the language. For that matter we can use questionnaires or board games in which students, and even the teacher, tell something about themselves. It is also essential to motivate and inspire students at the beginning of the class through some warmer activities. In that way we will engage them to participate in the class. It might happen that the students in one class will have different English levels. In that case, we can take different approaches, like dividing the class and working with different materials or working with the same material but different tasks, pairing more advanced students with the weaker ones or even do nothing. Some classes might be large in number of students. Using worksheets, working in pairs or groups, appointing group leader, etc can be helpful when dealing with these kind of cases. As of the use of native language in the classroom, it better to avoid it. In order to do this, the teacher should always try to use the appropriate language level for the group, make clear explanations and always respond in English. If some of our students are reluctant to participate, using pair work, role play or even more controlled practice for them to gain confidence can be very helpful. And in the case of students that finishes their tasks quicker than the others, it might be good to have some extra activities for them while the others finish at their own pace. This final lesson has been a nice reminder of how we can face the most common problems during the class.
