This unit covers the parts of speech and basic grammar of the English language. By breaking down the structure of our language into its' most basic form, this unit helped me recognize different techniques for explaining and teaching English grammar to a non-native English speaker. When teaching complex concepts involving the rules of grammar, It makes more sense to start with the most simple forms of speech before delving deeper into the intricacies of their usage. For example, it would probably make more sense for a student to first understand what a verb is before trying to explain to them what auxiliary verbs, transitive verbs, or intransitive verbs are. Structuring and organizing information in a way that is easy to comprehend will aid in the learning and teaching experience.
