Ha! That’s very funny. You guys played a blinder here, in the very last grammar unit of the course, because let’s face it, if students were faced with Type 2- Transitive separable and Type 3- Transitive inseparable phrasal verbs in Unit 1 they would’ve probably run for the hills! Type 2… and Type 3… sound like some horrible disease that scrambles the brain! Joking aside, I really need to spend extra time looking at these “terrifying” phrasal verb Types – let’s hope it isn’t 3 years out of the 4 years needed to cover the whole grammatical system, hmmm! On a positive note, I do like relative clauses – they make sense! It’s quite amazing how the omission of commas can misconstrue. Modals are great! I do have a true appreciation of how using them can change the formality and meaning of the main verb. I like using “May I…” and “Would you be so kind…” I think that it will be great fun teaching modal verbs, especially using role-plays to teach functions – I can’t wait!
