This unit was interesting. There were some useful tips for when using electronic equipment in class, for instance, making sure it actually works, knowing exactly where on the tape / disc /cassette and video the material is located and how long it takes to rewind back to the start. Checking volume control before the lesson is also a must.
I have never worked with Interactive Whiteboards before so definitely learning how to operate one before attempting to use one is of vital importance. It would look very unprofessional to be fiddling around with equipment in class while students fidget.
I like the idea of making a board plan prior to the lesson. This would be valuable for new teachers who may be a bit nervous and may not have had much practice writing on the board.
The long list of online sources will be of great help, especially the Learning and Teaching links – with all this lovely information freely available, there really can be no excuses for poorly thought out lesson plans!
