It is important that some attention be paid to potentially difficult situations that arises during the course of teaching lessons. Such as the approach to be taken in dealing with new groups and existing groups, with new groups building rapport is the important priority not the lesson itself since the lesson is much more easily absorbed in an environment where rapport is strong. In an existing group where rapport is already strong the teacher therefor need to spend less time on rapport building and can get straight to teaching the lesson much quicker.
It is important to understand and use various techniques to build rapport using warmers such as tongue twisters, Pictionary and hangman. Taking account of the different levels of people in the class or size of the class and applying appropriate techniques will reap great rewards in increasing efficiency in delivery and enthusiasm for lessons. Students should be discouraged from using their native language and encouraged to pay careful attention to their listening skills.
