This unit provides an overview of common problems a teacher may encounter and some ideas on how to deal with them. The unit covers importance of establishing rapport in the first session using warmers and how to handle different ability levels within the same class room. It also talks about strategies and tactics for dealing with large classrooms. Some teaching techniques need to be modified for the large classroom - for example, it is not practical to work with each individual student. Group and pair work is more appropriate for a large group versus a small sized group. The unit also covers handling of use of native language, reluctant students and use of listening texts in the class.
