Receptive skills and productive skills are equally important for people who want to learn a language well. In this Unit, I learned some good tips about the receptive skills.
Receptive skills are about listening and reading. For English learners, in the first stage, the listening part is much more difficult for them as they do not have an opportunity to think about every word. If students could not understand the words at the moment, the words will disappear very soon. Except for that, students' pre-existing knowledge about the specific topic is also very important. If students knew something about the topic, it would be easy for them to get involved in the listening part. As teachers, we can pre-teach some related works if the topic is professional.
