The last unit focused on trouble shooting common problems and situations that may come up in a classroom. The problems discussed were first lessons, different levels, large class sizes and use of native language during class. The lesson provided detail on how experienced teachers handle these types of problems and discussed various activities and techniques to be used by a new teacher when faced with these situations. For example, a warmer activity should be used on the first day to break the ice between the teacher and the students as well as between the students themselves. For students on different levels, the class can be divided into two groups (stronger and weaker) and the lessons can either be prepared to each group level, or the same lesson can be given to both groups, but extra tasks can be given to the stronger group, or, the class is not divided, and the students are left to their own learning level. The unit does not completely discourage use of the students’ native tongue except during a speaking activity, but recommends it only be used when absolutely necessary.
