This unit, like many of the units before reminded me of how much I take for granted in the English language. Growing up speaking english pronunciation came naturally to me and I never thought much about it but I realize how complicated it can really be, especially if you aren't used to it. I have run into similar difficulties trying to say words people have tried to teach me in Hebrew, German, Spanish, Russian and Arabic. Some of the sounds in those languages use noises and movements of the mouth and structures of pronunciation that we don't share in English. Learning the Phonemic Symbols is a bit confusing but very helpful for finding a more universal way to relate for how things should sound, beyond just how words are spelled. I plan to spend more time exploring deeper into Phonology, I think it is very important for teaching and also for me as I aim to learn more languages in the future.
