This unit discussed the use of modal auxiliary verbs, phrasal verbs and the passive voice.
Modal auxiliary verbs include: can, could, may, might, shall, should, will, would, must, have to, have got to, need to, needn't and ought to. They are used to express ideas such as:
1. Obligation
2. Possibility/Probability
3. Permission/Prohibition
4. Ability
5. Advice
I would argue that 'would' can be used to express inability. For example: I would go to the party, but I have to work. This was not mentioned in the Modals section.
With passive voice, the agent (or doer of the action) is not important or unknown.
The section on Phrasal verbs made absolutely no sense to me and I found the examples to be very unhelpful.
