This was the most difficult unit so far. This unit dealing with pronunciation AND phonology covered a lot of content. I am glad for how in detail this unit went because I have never tried to teach or even think in a methodical way about how to teach intonation and stress. I understand the importance of pronunciation and have experience in that, but now I also understand the importance of teaching intonation as well. The phonemic alphabet is an entirely new concept to me. Yes, I have breezed past this weird looking pronunciation in dictionaries without giving much thought to it. This is something I need to spend more time memorizing which I clearly did not master in one unit, but food for thought. There was a lot of information in this unit which is a nice change of pace but I would absorb more if it was broken up into two units.
