There are many different categories of beginner students. These categories include a true beginner, a fake beginner, young learners, adult learners, and a beginner with no knowledge of the Roman alphabet. With beginner students, a teacher needs to remember to use controlled language, be as visual as possible, and use pair work. A teacher should try not to use their mother language in the classroom, even if the teacher know it, and they should try not to over-correct the beginner students. Each category of beginners is going to be taught differently. Teaching one-on-one will probably be less formal than group teaching. Teaching young beginners should have a variety of activities to keep them active, while adult learners might be tired after a long day of work so they might want less active activities. It is important to remember the audience of students that a teacher has, and to make the plan according to that category's specific needs.
