This unit covers the productive skills of speaking and writing, which are complimented and enhanced by the previous learning of the receptive skills of reading and listening. In speaking and writing, accuracy and fluency are equally important. Accuracy is taught and learned by using more of a drill technique, while fluency is taught and learned by a more freestyle, creative technique that inspires and motivates the students' interests and understanding. The Engage and Study portions of the lesson are more guided and monitored by the teacher, while the Activate portion of the lesson is mostly guided by the students. Feedback is gently given by teacher prompting at appropriate points in the Activate portion of the lesson. Serious mistakes or patterns of mistakes by students are corrected respectfully by the teacher in private. Games add interest and fun to learning accuracy and fluency of the language content. Creativity of speaking and learning is the outcome of a balanced style of teaching and learning using multiple techniques and motivational tools to ensure the accuracy, fluency, and student self-satisfaction and successful mastering of the language content.
