This lesson teaches different assessments to test students abilities and when to use them.
Placement test are used to determine the students knowledge and proficiency in English and are best given before a course is started, in order to place a student in the correct level of the language curriculum. Diagnostic tests are some what similar to placements tests as they help the teacher determine what the students already know, diagnostic tests occur before the instruction begins to inform the teacher of the students level of understanding. Progress test are done throughout the course in order for the teacher to see what teachings are being retained and which are being forgotten. This helps the teacher know what to review with the students so that they can strengthen their weaker language.
Practice test are used to prepare students for a bigger exam and should be close to the real exam so that both student and teacher know which areas need to be strengthened.
