The first lessons are usually a test run lesson if you will. These lessons should give the students an idea of how the rest of the course will look like. They also help the teacher get to know the needs of the students and gives them a chance to tweak their lesson plans for the remaining of the course to cater to the needs of the students. When working with a larger class it can become difficult to captivate the whole class so be creative and come up with activities that involves everyone's participation. Its important to be edible to the whole class when speaking and speak clearly so everyone understands. When using the white board be sure that your writing is legible to everyone. Warmers should be short, fun communicative activities that will captivate and motivate the students to use English. Students may want to use their native language with you but as their teacher you shouldn't respond to that. As soon as they figure out that you understand their native language they will stop using English and revert back to their native language.
