In this unit I learned about the most common problems teachers face in a classroom and suggestions in dealing with them. There are two types of groups, the new group in which the students and teacher do not know each other and rapport needs to be established. An existing group is a group of students who already know each other and rapport needs to be established between themselves and the teacher. Motivating students is important and the use of warmers is a good way of getting the students started. Some problems arise in a class having different learning levels. There are different ways of dealing with this situation such as pairing the weaker student with a stronger student and using the same material with different tasks. Large classes create problems and the teacher can use different techniques in solving them. I also learned that I should avoid using the student's mother tongue even if I know it to better enable them to use English.
