Reading and listening throughout or normal days is something we can often take for granted as we generally consume our information and is able to properly dictate what it means. A non native speaker can have a great difficulty differentiating between information and what could be taken as a sensational headline or taking the headline as literal fact. Through this unit I learned how we can compartmentalize a multitude of different reading and listening skills and learn how to introduce these skills to students. Much of the time, teachers can spend teaching the student how to write and speak the language that teaching them how to properly reading the language and how to interpret it can be overlooked. Challenging the students to think and review what they are reading can be incredibly beneficial to their learning.
